We just survived a couple weeks of 90+ degree temperatures, so naturally our thoughts are turning to cooler days ahead. Cotton Fields has some new ideas in the shop for holiday/Christmas sewing. Here are just a few....
How about some kits to make mitten tree ornaments?
I'm a little bit old fashioned, so have only made a few projects with jelly rolls and charm squares. But my customers LOVE them. So here's an assortment that just arrived from Robert Kaufman Fabrics. "Roll-Ups" are their rolls of 2 1/2" wide strips. There are 40 strips in each package for $24.50.
Charm square packages each contain 42 five-inch squares. Price is $15.00.
After the three-day-sale was over, I counted the votes for the anniversary challenge quilts. The theme was "STARS" and entrants were asked to create original quilts < 30" on a side. Two fabrics were provided and they could add any other fabric that they wanted.
Nine quilters finished their quilts by the deadline and shoppers voted during the sale. Here are pictures of all the quilts.
21" x 30"
"Oh Starry Night"
15 1/2" x 15 1/2"
"Pink Star Flowers"
All of the quilts were wonderful. Such variety! Here are the rest....
It is hard to believe that I've been at Cotton Fields Quilt Shop for 12 years! What a wonderful time ... I have met so many nice people and made many, many good friends. Thanks to you all!!! To celebrate, I'm having my biggest sale of the year. All regular fabric is 25% off. Sale fabric is 50% off.
Thursday and Friday 10 AM-5 PM
Saturday 10 AM-3 PM
Returning at anniversary time for the 3rd year in a row, is Jeanne from Knitting Addiction in Kitty Hawk, with Geraldine the Yarn Truck. The truck will be at the shop all day Saturday.
We ended up the week with a BANG ... three really pretty backings from P&BTextiles. They are 110" wide instead of the more common 108" wide. $18.79/yard ... remember that this fabric is more than twice the width of regular fabric but less than twice the price.
