Anthology Fabrics

A big box just arrived from Anthology Fabrics.  It contained 7 bolts of their "batik solids".  I'm filling in gaps in the batik shelves, preparing for our annual shop hop which begins in just two weeks.

All of the shops keep their special shop hop quilts a SECRET until the hop begins, but mine is made with a set of "Story Strips" from Anthology.  More strip sets are coming soon.

Saturday, January 16, 2016

Today was the culmination of the second "Tuffet" class held here at Cotton Fields Quilt Shop.  Last week, under the direction of Marti Tolbert of That's Sew Marti! four students received instructions and started sewing their fabric strips onto the special tuffet foundations.

They returned today with sewing complete, to tackle the upholstery part of the project.

There are a lot of supplies involved!

Thick batting is molded around a foam form.

The finished covers are added next.

The covers are tightly drawn over the form and the large covered button is attached to accentuate the shape of the top.  The flat bottom is covered with a coordinating fabric and beautiful decorative legs are added last.  (Can you see Kathy's shoes?  Their flashing lights entertained us all.)

Carol Made two tuffets.  Here she is, adding the legs to the first one.

All different, all beautiful.

The next TUFFET CLASS is scheduled for March 19 and 26.  Both Saturdays, class will meet 10 AM to 2 PM.  $80 registration fee required.  Additional supplies include fabric, pattern, ruler, and $90 kit.  Spaces are limited, so register early!

"INDIGO" by Robert Kaufman

It's so much fun to see new fabrics arriving for a new year.  This morning's delivery contained these fun pieces from Robert Kaufman.  The "Indigo" collection looks like tie dye!  I can see a lot of possibilities beyond quilts .....

And, again, I got a great price so these are all $8.99/yard.
